Rikke Friis first engaged with DRC back in 1993 as a student, and in 1996 she graduated in Culture Geography and Public Administration. Her Master in Refugees was devoted to documenting DRC’s engagement in the transport operations in Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia. She then worked as a consultant for VOICE on Ethics in Humanitarian Aid before joining DRC as a professional.
She has held several key positions in DRC, both in Denmark and abroad. She has headed the organisation’s Operations and Policy Support Unit and served as deputy head of the International Department before taking over the position as International Director in March 2017. Rikke Friis has played an important role in the growth of DRC’s international activities, and has substantial knowledge of the organisation and the humanitarian sector.
